Insurance
I am an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies. However, most insurance plans include out-of-network benefits. If you would like to use your insurance, I would be happy to file claims on your behalf or provide a superbill (an insurance specific receipt) so that you will receive reimbursement from your insurance company. Whether you get reimbursed and how much will depend on your specific plan.
If you wish to go this route, you may want to contact your insurance by calling the number on the back of your card and ask a customer service rep about your out of network benefits.
Here are some questions you'll want to ask your insurance company before proceeding:
What are my out-of-network benefits and how much will I be reimbursed for psychotherapy services? Particularly for service codes 90791, 90837, 90834.
Do I have a deducible that I need to meet before I can receive reimbursement? Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about how this works.
I have many reasons for not accepting insurance, probably too many to name here. But here are some of the benefits of seeing a therapist who is out of network. Not taking insurance means that I can keep a smaller caseload which allows me time to adequately reflect on you and your case and be more mentally, emotionally, and spiritually available to you. In addition, you will have more protections to your privacy, no restrictions to the duration and number of treatment sessions, and more available treatment options to meet your needs.
Sliding Scale
I offer a sliding scale for those who meet certain income requirements. However, I have a limited number of slots available so please inquire when we speak if this is something you’ll need. Sliding scale refers to a fee reduction based on financial hardship. I will require proof of income once per year and for every change in employment.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can also ask me, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
